MARK HIM OUT
+++ Wood’s mystery pal +++
Over the years, this publication has become a large, all-encompassing pair of arms, bringing Dynamates together in a huge weekly group hug – so the editorial team was naturally delighted to hear that lonely ‘Mo STEVE ‘LONESOME PINE’ WOOD managed to make a new pal at the Dartmoor Classic Cyclosportive after failing to see any other Dynamos at the Tour of Flanders amateur event last month. Steve, who completed the hilly 100-mile route in blistering heat the Sunday before last to earn a bronze-standard medal, reveals that he spotted a couple of blue, black and orange-clad riders at the finish in Kingsteignton, Devon, and also met someone called Mark during the ride – which is a bit like saying you went to Richmond Park and saw a tree. There’s about 10 Dyna-Marks, pal! That same weekend, Dynamatic chums ALEX ARAUJO, JAMIE ‘TUCKER’ JENKINS and ELLIOT KATZ tackled all 502 miles of the four-day Kelloggs Tour of Ireland Cycle Challenge, which saw the trio launch a brief escape within a few miles of stage one’s finish in Cavan and feature prominently at the front of the epic final stage’s adventure through the Wicklow mountains… http://tinyurl.com/5fvmrk. Alex took 9th overall, Elliot 26th, and Jamie, who was knocked off on stage two, finished 30th… http://tinyurl.com/6nh7v4. Great stuff, lads! Not to be outdone by the three musketeers, Dynamo double act PAUL ‘MONTY’ DELAHUNTY and TOM ‘HUMBLE’ HEMMANT put on a sterling display of teamwork at the Hillingdon Grand Prix on Saturday, with super-strong Tom giving his kiwi chum a massive lead out for the finale of the E/1/2 national series event. Paul nabbed 6th and Tom was 7th – but sadly, another Dynamo friendship hasn’t been quite so harmonious of late, so come with us now to a Sussex time trial course as we reveal how a gamble has left a certain lanky lad out of pocket. It’s time to book a table for a slice of humble pie…

DINNER TAKES ALL
+++ Powdrill loses bet again +++
Famished Dynamates looking for a free lunch might well be tempted to challenge GUY ‘THE ENGINE’ POWDRILL, who conclusively lost his double-or-quits time trialing bet with PAUL ‘CANNONBALL’ CALLINAN prior to taking 6th at the E/1/2 race at Crystal Palace this week. Readers may remember that diner-mo Paul beat his foppish chum by just one second at the Farnborough and Camberley CC 25-miler, thereby earning a dinner for himself and his wife Clare – and now the sensitive Goldman Sachs machine will be stumping up for another slap-up feed after going 42 seconds slower than the Kingston killer at the Addiscombe CC ’25’ in Broadbridge Heath, West Sussex, last month, which also saw RICHARD ‘DOCTOR’ LEGGE take 3rd with 54:10… http://tinyurl.com/6dbz44. Having suffered two blows to his wallet, wounded Guy used RICHARD ‘WIN ‘EM’ SIMMONDS’ know-how to revamp his riding position before returning to the same course on Sunday for the Worthing Excelsior event, where he earned 1st place by knocking an incredible 2mins 11secs off his original time of 56:46… http://tinyurl.com/5a7zwg. To paraphrase 10th-placed MARTIN ‘PIN-UP’ WILLIAMSON, the man’s a monster! Guy’s TT rival Paul missed out on going head-to-head with Richard after the cycling coach’s car broke down en route to the Didcot Phoenix ’25’ in Cumnor, Berks, the Sunday before last, although Dynamo’s honorary president consoled himself by clocking 54:59 for 3rd place… http://tinyurl.com/6hm86t …and the following Tuesday saw the pair team up to take 3rd at the Bicester Millennium 2-up ’10’ at the RAF base in Weston-On-The-Green, Oxfordshire… http://tinyurl.com/6ofzbe. Paul, who did 21:31 with his partner, admits: “In reality, it was five miles following Richard’s backside and hanging on. He’s on fire, man!” And the evangelical duo will no doubt be pleased to hear that GORDON ‘KEN-A-LIKE’ KENNEWAY is becoming a convert to the dark arts of the tri-spoke and the stopwatch after clocking 21:33 to take 7th at the Farnham CC open ’10’ in Bentley, Hants, on Saturday. At this rate, we’ll all be testers soon, Dynamates!

A WALES OF A TIME
+++ Parkride beast let loose in valleys +++
He’s done it! Following a training race at the Chertsey MoD circuit a couple of weeks ago, the Parkride’s infamous diesel-mo DAVID ‘GOLIATH’ ANDREWS simultaneously launched and concluded his Armstrong-like season at the L’etape De La Defonce in Cowbridge, Glamorgan at the weekend, achieving 12th on the GC of the legendary 3/4 event after taking 5th on the first stage and 3rd on the hilly last day without even getting out of the saddle. Nice one, fella! The fiery fortysomething’s younger team-mates CHRIS ‘VAN CHADDERS’ CHAPMAN, STUART ‘EASY’ SPIES and TOBY ‘IS IT COS I IS’ BLACKMAN wore down the opposition with continual attacks on both road stages – and the awesome foursome took 8th on the team time trial, which saw plucky Chris haul himself back on the blue train after getting uncoupled. Stu, who was 8th on the last stage, finished 13th on the GC, with Chris taking 14th and Toby 59th… http://tinyurl.com/5dul9a. Meanwhile, over on the flat-ish Ellen’s Green circuit in Surrey, SUSANNAH OSBOURNE and CHARLIE ‘VICI’ BLACKMAN were forcing the pace at the South East Women’s RR Championship, shelling out a rider from the eight-strong leading group before taking 2nd and 3rd respectively… http://tinyurl.com/6lmh4z. Never a stranger to road rash, blameless Charlie got another dose when an Addiscombe rider lost control after crossing the line – and over in Woodchurch, Kent, poor TONY ‘PETER’ SMEDLEY seemed to be suffering from a dose of something else entirely as he paid three visits to the little boys’ room prior to the start of the 50-mile 3/4 Kennardington race. The doughty club captain got in a break with JASON ‘WILLS’ GREEN and a pair of riders who ended up powering away from them to secure the top two places on the podium – but Tony later managed to control his dodgy guts by winning the bunch sprint to take 3rd, while Jason nabbed 5th… http://tinyurl.com/5e75be. Royal lookalike Jase was riding with a buckled Ksyrium following a bash on the bottom corner at Crystal Palace, where he returned on Tuesday to take 5th in the 3/4 event… http://tinyurl.com/4kalje There’s no stopping that lad!

TORKEL PICTURES
+++ Dohmers’ movie of sprint +++
Any readers who want to spend even more time avoiding work might want to check out SAM ‘EPIC’ WOODHOUSE’s photos of last year’s club champs, which finally arrived at our famous soundproof bunker this week. There’s a special prize to the first person who identifies the mystery ‘Mo standing next to PAUL ‘ALL BLUE’ HARKNETT in the first pic… http://tinyurl.com/5jwqlh. And if you’re still at a loose end, have a gander at the madness of the sprint at the Hillingdon GP, filmed by TORKEL ‘REDTOP’ DOHMERS… http://tinyurl.com/633cgg …although his futuristic pod car, which can travel up buildings, looks far more interesting. Just click on the third picture along the top row… http://www.redtop.se. If only he could invent a bike that makes sub-standard 4th cats corner properly at Palace!
